It’s no longer news that sometime ago, Nigerian banks placed an embargo on the use of their issued Naira denominated MasterCards and Visa Cards for online foreign transactions due to the dollar-naira increase and inconsistency in order to prevent loss on their part.
Since then, Nigerians, especially netpreneurs like bloggers, online marketers, forex traders, foreign exchangers, web developers, etc who patronize foreign websites for products and services had their World shaken and left on a spree seeking alternatives to ameliorate their unfortunate situation.
To make peace with the constraint, most of them have taken succour in Payoneer services which provides them with free foreign MasterCard that works for both local and foreign transactions. While but a few took the strenuous step of applying for and meeting with the near-impossible requirements to secure a domiciliary account which comes with a dollar MasterCard or Visa Card which can be used for foreign transactions as well.
While some banks are gradually beginning to lift the embargo, there are still some who haven’t. And so those still affected still need an alternative for the meantime. But not everybody is going to be fortunate to be able to use either of the alternatives listed above.
Fortunately, there is another easy alternative. With this method, you don’t need to opt in for another card. You simply make use of your Naira card, be it MasterCard, Visa card or Verve card. But note that you have to activate your card for online transactions.

Recommended: The Cost of Domain Names in Naira
As you can see from the screenshots above, I used the virtual MasterCard I generated in this tutorial to successfully buy a .com domain name from Godaddy for $1.77.
When you check back your card after making a transaction, you will notice that it has been debited. You also get to see its balance amount and usage in percentage. For example, after deducting $1.17 from my initial $1.50 fund for my domain purchase, I’m told I’ve 78% usage on my card.
